Use a typical iphone? Wondering why your battery life is so poor all the time?? We all hear how shutting down your background applications may help extend your battery life etc… But… along comes Scotty Loveless (yes… his actual name) who decided to get to the bottom of why his iOS kept running out of battery within the space of a day.
He found out that it was, in fact, the Facebook application who is the main culprit of draining his precious iphone’s battery life. Scott commented on his blog that “During this testing, Facebook kept jumping up on the process list even though I wasn’t using it.”. So how should one resolve the problem? Scott advises that he disabled Location Services and the Background App Refresh for Facebook. He notes that the battery percentage on his phone actually increased “it jumped from 12% to 17%. Crazy. I’ve never seen that happen before on an iPhone”. Nuts indeed!
If you are unsure on how to turn off the relevant settings as mentioned by Scott, just review the short step by step guide below:
Navigate to Settings – Privacy.
In Privacy, select Location Services. Tap on the on/off feature. Select Turn Off.
Background App Refresh
Navigate to Settings – General.
In General, select Background App Refresh. Toggle the on/off switch and select Disable Background App Refresh.
Thankfully we don’t have to uninstall the Facebook application from our iphone! Just have to make a few configuration changes is all that is involved and hopefully you will start to see an optimization in your phones battery life.
