How to import Facebook calendar to Google Calendar and Outlook

If you are a popular person like me (my mummy says I’m cool… so it must be true!) who attends many events organised via Facebook but has a hard time keeping track of your social calendar, then a good idea would be to export your Facebook events and birthdays to your Google Calendar and/or Outlook. Google Calendar and Outlook are far more reliable tools to use to review your upcoming events and birthdays, and we will show you how to do this! Furthermore, if the event or birthday updates, these applications will subsequently update as well!

In this article, we cover the following processes:

How to export all Facebook events and/or birthdays to Google Calendar

Prerequisite

  • Facebook account
  • Google Account
  • Google Calendar
  • Computer

1. Navigate to a web browser and login to your Facebook account.

2. Head to your Events page or copy and paste this URL into your web browser:

https://www.facebook.com/events/

3. On the Events page, scroll down and you will see an option on the right stating You can add your events to Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar. Once you add them they’ll stay updated.

4. Right click which option you want to copy, for us we choose, Upcoming Events and select Copy link address.

4. In your Gmail account, open Google Calendar.

5. Select the + icon next to ‘Add a friend’s calendar’.

6. In the drop down, select From URL.

7. Copy and paste in the URL you copied from Facebook. It should look similar to our image below. Press Add Calendar.

8. The events we copied from Facebook have now been added onto our Google Calendar. Yay! For example, this calendar entry was just added.

9. It should also appear on the left under ‘Other Calendars’.

How to export an individual Facebook event to Google Calendar

1. Navigate to the Facebook event you want to export to Google Calendar. Please note that you can only export events that you are ‘Interested’ or ‘Going’. If you are ‘Not Going’, they cannot be exported. Nice, Facebook. Press the 3 dots next to Share.

2. Select Export Event in the drop down menu.

3. Select radio button Save to calendar and click Export.

4. The .ics file will download to your downloads folder. This is how it appears when downloaded in the Google Chrome web browser.

5. Back in Google Calendar, select the + icon again and click on Import.

6. In the Settings – Import section, click Select file from your computer.

7. Add the .ics file downloaded from facebook and click Import.

8. You are advised in Google Calendar that the event has been imported.

How to export all Facebook events and/or birthdays to Outlook

There are two ways you can export your Facebook events and/or birthdays to Outlook. This is automatically via the inbrowser apps method or by adding the calendar manually into the Outlook.

Prerequisite

  • Facebook account
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Computer
Export Facebook Calendar via inbrowser apps method

1. Navigate to a web browser and login to your Facebook account.

2. Head to your Events page or copy and paste this URL into your web browser:

https://www.facebook.com/events/

3. On the Events page, scroll down and you will see an option on the right stating You can add your events to Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar. Once you add them they’ll stay updated. Select which item you want to export to Outlook.

4. The following pop up appears asking us if we want to pick an app. Select Open Pick an app.

5. Select the Outlook application from the list and click OK.

6. Microsoft Outlook opens and you are taken to the Calendar. The pop up appears below. Click Yes.

7. The calendar has now been imported onto Outlook.

Export Facebook Calendar to Outlook manually

1. Navigate to a web browser and login to your Facebook account.

3. On the Events page, scroll down and you will see an option on the right stating You can add your events to Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar. Once you add them they’ll stay updated. Right click which option you want to copy, for us we choose, Upcoming Events and select Copy link address.

4. In Outlook, go to Calendar and select Open Calendar. From the drop down menu click on From Internet.

5. Insert the web link copied from Facebook and click OK.

6. The Facebook calendar will import onto your Outlook Calendar. The example below shows what it looks like when we import Birthdays to the Calendar.

How to export an individual Facebook event to Outlook

1. Navigate to the Facebook event you want to export to Google Calendar. Please note that you can only export events that you are ‘Interested’ or ‘Going’. If you are ‘Not Going’, they cannot be exported. Nice, Facebook. Press the 3 dots next to Share.

5. In Outlook, select the File tab.

6. Navigate to Open & Export, click Import/Export.

7. In the Import & Export Wizard, select Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file (.vcs) and click Next.

8. In the pop up, select Import.

9. The Facebook event has been added to Outlook Calendar.
