Creating a send connector on Exchange in order to send emails outside of your organization

This is the fourth chapter from the guide ‘How to setup and configure Exchange server 2010 behind Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway. This is a continuation from the 3rd chapter which covers how to create a new mailbox database and move existing mailboxes in Exchange.

To create a ‘send connector’, navigate to the Exchange console. Click on the Organization – Hub Transport node in the left hand pane. In the middle pane, navigate to the Send Connectors tab. In the right hand pane, select New Send Connector to open the wizard.

As shown in Figure.1, type a name for the new send connector and select ‘Internet’ as the intended use for this send connector. Press Next to continue.



On the Address space page, click the Add button. Type * in the address space box and press OK to continue.  Press Next.



On the following page, select the radio button “Use domain name system (DNS) “MX” records to route mail automatically”. Press Next.

On the following pages, click Next and then click New (New Connector).

Click Finish to close the wizard.
